A film critic, A. O. Scott works on the New York Times. He wrote a movie review on a James Bond movie. Scott does not seem like a supporter of the opening song. He claims that the song, sung by Alicia Keys and Jack White are "an intriguing duo on paper if nowhere else."
Scott mentions in the forth paragraph that the first chases is "speedy and thrilling" and that it left off from the previous movie.
This review in my opinion is very biased. He mentions his opinions on everything. But then again, he it is his job, he is a critic. He clearly states the things he does and doesn't like in the film. This essay is put together very well.
I found Scotts review was hard to understand at first, I had to reread it several times to get a better understanding of it. My opionion is I wish he would of talked about the title more and how it would relate to the film. All those big words that he used also through me off. Ususally if I dont know what a word means I look it up in the Dictionary, but not this time, maby if I would of than I would of been able to understand it more.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I liked about Scotts review though was that he compared this new film, Quantum of Solace, to the other James Bonds movies that have been around for a long time. Myself, yes I have watched a few of the James Bond movies when I was married to my first husband and really liked watching them. We would either buy the movies or rent them first. My opionion on this movie though, no I am not ready to go out and either buy it or rent it but it would of been more appropriate if Scott would of went into reviewing the Quantum of Solace more, and I wish it would of contained at least 1 review from another critic than maby we would know more about this film. Im not saying they needed to spilll the beans but just give us another clue.
I love the action pack films that James Bond is in. Their is always a evil genius with funny names, alot of woman he is with, and he always has exotic cars. Im not sure yet what to think about the new characters that have been playing as James Bond, for the original James Bond is what will stand out in any other film that comes out and has new characters that pertray him. Im thinking this new film Quantum of Solace is not going to be has brutal as all the original ones.
I agree with you on the part about using his own bias about the film. He kept mentioning how he did not like the film comparing it to other James Bonds movies. He kept using the word "I" alot and wasent giving a overall view on the film just his.
